Dear
Intercessor,
“Therefore
also now, says the Lord, turn and keep on coming to Me with all your
hearts, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning (until every
hindrance is removed and the broken fellowship is restored).” Joel
2:12 Amplified. NEOIN will
be joining an estimated 100,000 believers around the nation in the
prayer guide “Seek God for the City, Prayers of Biblical Hope”
beginning February 17 to March 28, covering forty days to Palm
Sunday. To order a copy/copies of the prayer guide, go to
www.waymakers.org or call 1-800-264-5214.
NEOIN will also
be partnering with HarvestNet and The Cleveland House of Prayer in
establishing 24.7.12, an “Unbroken Chain of Fasting and
Prayer”, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year in
2010. The intended result would be: 1.)To collaborate with
other pastors, churches, prayer networks and ministries in NE Ohio.
2.) To begin a 24/7 unbroken chain of fasting and prayer at the
beginning of 2010. 3.) For Regional Revival and Transformation
that is owned by God. Pastor Gary Pleasant of City Church
shares how the Lord instructed his congregation to give themselves
to prayer in 2009 even on the holidays! God further said, “Do not
approach this as an event but a Lifestyle Change.” This
would help teach the body of Christ the importance of a
Surrendered Lifestyle. Pastor Pleasant testifies that the Lord
brought order to every area of their lives, in struggling marriages,
in lives of rebellious teenagers and in bringing God’s very presence
into their small group meetings as well as Sunday’s corporate
meetings. Soon, you will be able to sign up on the website calendar
of
www.ClevelandPrays.org. to choose days you would like to fast
and pray. We are prayerfully suggesting that people: A.) Give
themselves to fasting and praying with liquids only (unless small
portions of food are needed in order to take medicine) from 5:45 pm
until 6:00 pm the next day. B.) Saturate themselves in the Word –
Read 6 chapters a day – Read through the Bible twice a year. C.)
Establish a prayer altar (place of prayer) fifteen or more minutes a
day. THE PURPOSE IS FOR REVIVAL AND TRANSFORMATION THAT IS OWNED BY
GOD.
We know that
Jesus did not say, “If you fast, but “when you fast.” (Luke 5:35)
We know the world fasts because it is a means to cleanse your body
from toxins. We are only advocating fasting with prayer!
Biblical examples are: “This kind can come forth by
nothing but by fasting and prayer.” (Mark 9:20) Surely God
rewarded Anna after many years of not coming out of the temple
enclosure but “ worshiping night and day with fasting and prayer”
(Luke 2:36-38), by allowing her to see and identify the baby
Jesus when Mary and Joseph brought him to the temple. The disciples
were able to appoint and ordain elders in Derbe “with fasting
and prayer.” Jesus said, “When you pray…when you
fast...do it to God alone (Matt. 6:16-18.) When we obey God
by fasting, He blesses us for our obedience. “Your Father Who
sees in secret will reward you openly.” We thank You,
Father, that by Your grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can
choose to fast and pray in 2010!
May Your kingdom
come and Your will be done in North East Ohio! Amen.
Carol Engelbert,
Director
