February 2008:   Through the Gates of LIFE

   

Dear Intercessors,

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you...” Jeremiah 1:5

The most recognized ideals of the American flag are “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

And yet…on Jan. 22, 2008 many gathered to remember those 47 million lost lives that were denied their right to life, their right to liberty, their right to the pursuit of happiness.  Never before in the history of mankind have we seen “killing fields” of this magnitude.  We have been gathering for 35 years and yet have still not been able to overturn the draconian and macabre “High court” decisions of Roe V Wade and Doe V Bolton.  In third world countries we often see parents fighting to protect their babies from marauding tribal warfare.  And here we are, in this beautiful free country, not only not throwing our bodies in front of the slaughter of our children, but actually paying hundreds of dollars to people in white coats to kill innocent children, whose only crime is their location…their mother’s womb!

The mother’s womb.  Created by God our Father to nurture His most precious creation – human life!  The womb.  A place that should provide safety from all earthly harm to our children but instead, through this grisly and obscene practice of abortion, has been violated by such an evil as to defy all logic or reason!  Dear Jesus, please forgive us for our sin!

The director of Human Life International recently published an open letter to the nation, in which he stated, “thirty five years of the same strategies and ideas have not gained us the victory we seek because the fight against the pervasive spiritual evil that has ever entered the world can only be won on God’s terms.  Let us not be afraid to fight Goliath’s weapons of mass destruction with the faith of David who came against the giant ‘in the name of the Lord of Hosts’ (I Sam 17:45).”  Fr. Euteneuer goes on to issue ten challenges; some of which are: 

Get down on your knees and ask the one true Savior to end abortion.  We need to go first to God to ask for protection and victory at the spiritual level.

 Fast for the conversion of abortion promoter.  Some demons are not driven out except by prayer and fasting, said the Lord (Matt.17:21)

Remind the Christian churches again that abortion exists with their permission! “Christians living in a free society aren’t being sent to gas chambers for speaking out, so we have no excuse. 

Embrace the embryonic stem cell and euthanasia issues with the same fervor as abortion.  If we do recognize the sacredness of all human life no matter the size or condition or vulnerability of that life, and do and say nothing, we are no different than the pro-death supporters.

It is no use for us to only be involved in fighting this evil during the month of January each year.  We need to engage in the battle every day until we defeat “Goliath’s weapon of mass destruction.”  Please commit to at least one of these challenges and carry the flag for LIFE, not just today – but every day, until GOD’S HOLY WILL IS DONE.

 In addition to pro-life concerns, we are also including on our February calendar daily prayer targets from Seek God for the City that we may continue to pray for the walls and gates to be repaired and rebuilt in our personal lives and that of the Church, the City and the Nation.  May God’s grace be upon us to carry out His will!
